Christmas Island (Kiritimati) is certainly not the cheapest nor the easiest fly fishing destination on the planet to get to. Therefore, it makes complete sense not to compromise on the flies that you bring with you. We adore Christmas Island and return every year. By a long shot, it's one of our favorite bonefish destinations. Don't show up with a dozen or two dozen flies and expect that to cover all the fishing for the week. Flies are not the most expensive part of the trip and after the initial investment, replenishing flies for future trips becomes relatively inexpensive.
Fly selections are comprised of patterns tied in different sizes, colours and weights to match the varying conditions of the fishing day. Each fly is individually hand crafted. Custom. Made to order. Just for you on strong and sharp Gamakatsu hooks. Nothing but the best. Expect to lose anywhere from a handful of flies (or less) to over a dozen flies a day depending on the amount of coral on the flat and flies eventually wearing out. Each selection is presented in a water resistant box that features a rubber gasket.
We use a light CA on most of our flies to improve their durability. To improve movement, we generally use soft materials like arctic fox, rabbit and Finn raccoon for the wings and tails. Flies are crafted using premium materials are certainly anything but inexpensive but this is what makes our flies really awesome.
